Erin Thompson, Content & Social Media Marketing Manager:

Did you have a chance to attend this morning's webinar? Our latest presentation from Clear Insights, "Reducing Employee BMI: Incentives and Weight Bias in the Workplace" drew a large audience from a diverse employer base. Dr. Rebecca Puhl, Director of Research and Anti-Stigma Initiative at the Yale Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity, joined our own Dr. Jennifer Lovejoy, Vice President of Clinical Development and Support, to discuss the nuances and ramifications of weight bias in the workplace, review well-known examples of employers who are offering incentives tied to BMI, and offer practical strategies that employers can adopt to promote a supportive worksite environment that promotes healthy living.

Take a look at why we're so honored to be working with both Dr. Puhl and Dr. Lovejoy:

Dr. Puhl received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Yale University. As a clinical psychologist, she has treated patients with eating disorders, binge-eating, and obesity. As a Research Scientist, Dr. Puhl has been studying weight bias for ten years, and has published studies on the prevalence and origins of weight stigma, interventions to reduce weight bias, and the impact of weight stigma on emotional and physical health. Dr. Puhl serves as chair of the Weight Bias Task Force of The Obesity Society, and is an editor of the book Weight Bias: Nature, Extent, and Remedies (Guilford Press, 2005).

Dr. Lovejoy, a frequent Clear Insights presenter and Free & Clear blogger, is the Vice President of Clinical Development & Support at Free & Clear. She holds a Ph.D. in BioPsychology from Emory University and completed postdoctoral training in Endocrinology and Metabolism at Emory University School of Medicine, where she specialized in obesity and diabetes research. Dr. Lovejoy’s clinical research program has been funded by grants from the National Institutes of Health, the American Diabetes Association, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and NASA.  She maintains adjunct faculty appointments at Bastyr University and University of Washington School of Public Health, has published over 50 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals, over 15 chapters and review articles, and is a frequent speaker on obesity and nutrition at national and international conferences. She currently serves as President-elect of The Obesity Society.

If you missed the presentation, never fear - our next presentation of the webinar will be on September 21 at 11:00am PDT. We'd love for you to join us. Register here.
